Fall in Winter

Seems like the weather has been changing constantly, from being unbearably cold to insatiably warm. Supposedly a short winter was predicted by an animal that we let out to see if it could see its own shadow. I'm not sure how well that's working so far, but each day it's like waking up to a "Magic 8-ball". Today it'll be "outlook not so good" or tomorrow it might be "signs point to yes".

 

Somehow, although this season has given us snow and ice, fall leaves are randomly still about and everything recently has reminded me of Fall.  The skies, the weather, the sepia tones...

 

Here's my sister and I waiting in what looks like Autumn, but truth be told it was pretty cold.

 

 

 

 The vintage autumn feel suits me though and it goes well with red accents.  It's good to have some change every once in a while so that my fingers don't fall off from the bitter cold.  Hmmm... maybe that groundhog was right after all... 



 

 

 

Lunar New Year Style Red

Lunar New Year aka Chinese New year is tomorrow, which is a glorious celebration for some people out there even for those who are not Chinese. Dragons, firecrackers, food, and loads of red & gold colors! So I thought I'd give a little RED inspiration for those who plan to make this their theme for the New Year celebration tomorrow.  Perhaps the decision is made and pink will be the themed color for Valentine's day, since they are  within a week of each other. hmmm....

Spring 2013 Campaign Favorites

My favorite Spring 2013 campaign inspirations derive from a vintage, rock-ability vibe.  I am absolutely in love with the freedom conveyed by these photographic images.  Now get in gear after this winter season... it's time to femininely rock with a splash of color, don't you think?

A little bit business, a little bit party.

My sister's department event attire that kept her up to code with her company's standards, while including her own personality and style.

 

 Love the stitching and the details.  Play up the texture with a fur coat outside it all for the winter and the shirt is silk. 

 

 

 Love how there are stripes on the inside of the blazer.  Definitely gotta roll up the sleeves to show a little use of pattern.

 

Full attire above without the coat and accessorized with an oversized watch makes for a simple but stated boyish piece.

My lovely sister gave me these the other day.  How thoughtful of her, it just makes me want to fly!

Lead and nickel-free earrings

 

Luckily these aren't as sharp as they seem and can dangle effortlessly without hurting me :)  There's this slight chiming noise as each of the wings tap against each other as they rotate individually, which makes me feel sort of angelic.  I haven't gotten a chance yet to wear them yet, but ideas are already brewing in my head! 

 



Urban Outfitters' Inspiration

I continuously update and sort through my inspirations and came across Urban Outfitters' Fall style again.  It's been cold and snowy but what I like is how you can take these inspirational outfits and pair them with warm layers and coats for the winter or take layers away and use them for summer.  I'm a "mix-em-up" gal myself. I don't wear one particular type of style so it's good to just pull inspiration from different places and make your own.  Be open minded about patterns and texture.  In a way I guess i'm preparing for summer without forgetting that the cold winter air is still here!
